This is where I don the mantle of Eco Worrier! Here are to be found solutions to the world's problems. Busk level could be a little high, but not impossible.

"Valken" is a proposal for a self-sufficient Ecological community at the Oude Molen Village (Cape Dutch for "Old Mill") in the Black River area to the East of Cape Town.

The land was originally used as a Psychiatric Hospital, called Valkenberg and I believe it was a farm before. The hospital subsequently moved and the Cape City Council wanted to sell the land to developers.

This was my attempt at getting the Council to let the land be used for Eco-Develoment. This was in 1998, I haven't been back to Oude Molen, as I lost interest in the develpment when all the "Do-Gooders" began fighting amongst themselves, due to a combination of conflicting ideologies and incredibly thick skulls.

I hear there are still hippies squatting in the old wards and that the future of the place is still in Limbo, but this proposal can be modified to suit almost any environment or situation.
