"Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) changes: Strike Action 28th
March

As a result of a disagreement between local government trade unions and
national government over changes to the LGPS the Council has been
notified that UNISON, the GMB, the T&GWU, the CYWU, AMICUS and UCATT
members are being called upon to take strike action on Tuesday 28th
March (from midnight to midnight). Further strike days are possible."

Wooohooo it's gonna be MayDay 2002 all over again... teargas canister
for a football... riot police as goal posts!

I had to laugh the other day when I was coming back from lunch. This
chap was standing right outside the door to the office building handing
out copies of "The Socialist Worker" and mumbling some diatribe about
the Proleteriate Council worker. I thought that's a bit cheeky! Right
outside the door. I declined a copy of the propaganda as it was thrust
under my nose, thinking there could be someone watching... hey I had
only been there a few weeks and I wasn't going to become politically
active just yet.

I staggered a few steps back that afternoon when I saw the same chap
drinking a cappuccino in the cafeteria proudly displaying his council
employee badge. I wasn't all that surprised to see he was drinking the
fair trade "grande" cappuccino. I know there is some irony in there
somewhere... if you look hard enough.
