before you get envious…

Sarita sent this from India - just before going into a ten day Silent Retreat...

hello :o(

yesterday afternoon we were both struck down with food poisoning. It was the veggie burgers…I only had 3 bites, but Joerg gobbled down 2, so he got very ill. I left him in a bundle on the bed this morning, with a dosen flies or so nesting on him.

Ok, so I am in the on a 350 Royal Enfield, cruising through the Himalayas….but before you get envious let me tell you the truth – this is a bloody hard journey, 11 hrs a day on the back of a bike in Indian traffic. We have decided that all Indian drivers are psychos and should be arrested and put away. There is no rules on the road here, you can do whatever you want, as long as you hoot to let the person in front of you know that you’re about to push them down a 500m drop….no problem.

Yip, we’ve had a few near death experiences. Also our back wheel burst. Thank God we were not going at 80km/h down a pass, but instead it happened just as we drove through a town. Joerg managed to control the bike and bring it to a halt…bless him! I’ve never heard him use the F-word so often with such aggression.

Also, at the beginning of our journey the bike fell over and burn Joerg’s leg. His got a scar the size of a fist on this right calve :o(

Other than that Minali is spectacular. It’s a little village surrounded by mountains and forests. We are staying in a cool little guest house that cost 80rupees per night (for a single that is). There’s trance music all over the show, many Israeli hippies (the Indians don’t like them) and Western food.

How is everyone? Any news from the West welcome.

Love Sarita (trying to stay alive)
